In the Room Where it Happens: Teaching Artist as Organizational Influencer

Organizations can change and innovate when administrative staff bring teaching artists into the center. Teaching artists can be powerful project influencers, advocates, community influencers, and visionary leaders on your board. In this workshop, you will have an opportunity to reflect on how your organization currently utilizes teaching artists, and ultimately walk away with concrete strategies to more fully engage the teaching artist voice within the nexus of your organization’s structures. In this action-oriented session, we’ll explore models of engaging artist expertise and knowledge as organizational influencers and work collaboratively to examine and discuss how these models and other strategies can be adapted to your organization as well as troubleshoot for potential roadblocks. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of how to harness the expertise of the artists you work with and amplify their impact.
